Yasmin Arkinstall dreams of pursuing a career on the stage, loving the concept of temporarily being someone else through music and acting. She’s a young soprano who has just completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) for classical voice at the Conservatorium of Music with straight distinction results in voice. Some of her performing has taken place at the Con, but she has also performed for weddings, funerals, nursing homes, luncheons and dinners, corporate events and cocktail parties as a soloist representing The Smith Family, Blacktown Council, Inner West Council, Rob Martin Productions and Cantabile Music. She recently sang as a soloist for a Studio 10 news segment “Yasmin’s Journey to Finding Her Voice” and appeared in another interview on the same show in 2018 where she told her story.
She has also sang as a soloist for the Schools Spectacular when she was 8 years of age, at City Recital Hall for 500 of Deutsche Bank’s business women, at the Opera House for the 2013 Smith Family annual ceremony, for Julia Gillard when she was the Prime Minister at her UWS campaign launch, and this year for the opening of the new shoe floor in David Jones (Elizabeth Street store). This floor opening had Sarah Harris from Studio 10, Let’s Connect Women, The Smith Family, and Comm Bank present.
She has been interviewed about her musical journey by Studio 10 in 2018 as a news story, CutCommon (classical music magazine) in 2018, and by The Convo Couch in 2018. Her stage experience in singing and acting extends to principle roles with FAMS Theatre Co (Polly Peachum in the Beggars Opera), Genesian Theatre (Susanna in the Marriage of Figaro), Normanhurst Musical Society (Laetitia in the Zoo) and Manly Panto (Operatic Lamb in Cinderella: Princess Private Investigator). She has also been dancing since the age of 5, being strong in jazz and tap dance, and has completed 6th grade piano. As well as her musical background, Yasmin was nominated for the 2019 Seven News Young Achiever Award in the NSW/ACT Community Services category for her volunteer public speaking about mental health and disadvantage.
Yasmin is excited to continue exploring her love for music and theatre.
