Kinetic Method is the unique musical talents of Sydney-based musicians Luke Koteras and Byron Mark.
Luke, well-known for his virtuosic acoustic guitar playing, also brings incredible vocal talent with an array of dazzling musical effects to the Kinetic Method sound. Singing seductive melodies of Monica and sending chills up your spine with “Ice on Fire”, Luke’s voice smoothly blends with the guitar, keyboard and percussion fusion that comprise Kinetic Method.
Byron, brilliantly banging out beats behind the keys while perching on percussion sets, adds large doses of unique musical flavours with his funk-jazz jam sessions. Though musically trained and talented on a number of instruments, you’ll usually hear him establishing a solid groove with his unique percussion setup or dancing his fingers across the keyboard, floating in and out of harmonic variations to accommodate any song or style. With the multi-tasking abilities of both members, Kinetic Method utilises hands, feet and vocal chords at once to create an expansive and eclectic wall of sound within a two-man band.
Together, Luke and Byron perform in an electro-acoustic style that encapsulates elements of acoustic, funk, dance, R&B and jazz. Their influences are also widespread; from Jamiroquai to Tommy Emmanuel – but one would describe their music as a cross over between John Mayer and The Script.
But it isn’t just this diverse pastiche of styles and genres that keeps fans continuously coming back for more; the two muso’s have been mates from an early age, and have performed together in a myriad of musical acts throughout the years. Luke and Byron share a strong musical intuition when they perform on stage, allowing for a large scope of improvisation and unique musical contributions to their wide range of repertoire. With Kinetic Method, no two performances are the same. Luke and Byron are constantly evolving and continue to explore their capabilities with every song they play.
Luke and Byron always perform with a strong passion and really know how to connect with their audiences. They have performed internationally, having toured in the UK, China and Thailand throughout 2006 and 2007. In 2008 and 2010, Kinetic Method performed a residency in the Australian snowy mountains. They also perform regular gigs around Sydney and play in a variety of venues, from pubs and cafes to corporate functions and the Opera Bar.
Kinetic Method completed their self-titled debut electronic album in 2009 and released their acoustic album in 2010, titled ‘Find a Friend’.
