Run The Red

Run The Red

“Run The Red with the drums set the scene, nestling into a funky groove.

The bass kicks in, soaking the bottom end, making the urge to move impossible to resist.

Suddenly, the guitar bites and stings, dips and dives, then settles into the backbeat. The Hammond swells up washing over like a wave. And then, the voice..”

Run The Red Testimonials

Club Windang: ‘ …you guys sounded great, the numbers were good. We would definitely be happy to have you guys again as the crowd really seemed to enjoy your sound.”

Gary deWall (Sydney Blues Society CD reviewer – EP Review in the August 2012 Blues Times): “This is just a short little review of a short little CD. This is a home produced EP put out as a demo/promo. It’s not a commercial release but it’s bloody good so I want to tell you about it.

Who is Run The Red? Well, it’s a new arrangement of some familiar and very talented faces. The lineup is; Wayne ‘Lefty’ Leffler (vocals, harp, Hammond, piano, guitar), John Gahagan (guitars), Derek Smith (drums), and Adam Robinson (bass). John has been playing with Lefty since the days of Hellhound and Cold Comfort, and Derek of course is a member of Mississippi Shakedown.

The CD serves up 4 tracks which are all very nice songs. Lefty has a great voice for Chicago/Texas style blues and he really struts his stuff here. And John is a fine guitarist who dishes up lots of sweet picking and some lovely slide on Feels Like Rain, a beautiful slow, moody love song that is my pick of the songs. Derek and Adam nail down the bottom end and provide a great base for Lefty and John to do their thing.

Lefty says a full album is probably 6 months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy Run the Red live, so check them out.”
